‘Emilia’ archive recording to be available online
The Olivier Award-nominated cast and crew will host a watch party on 10 November.
UPDATE: In a tweet on 12 November, Emilia will now be available to watch online until 2 December.
An archive recording of the West End play Emilia will be made available to watch next month. After last year's performances at the Vaudeville Theatre, audiences can relive the play with the cast and crew via an online livestream on 10 November, with the play then staying online for a further fortnight.
Dramatising the life and career of 17th century poet Emilia Bassano, Emilia explores her struggles to be noticed. With nods that Emilia was the Dark Lady of Shakespeare's sonnet, the play celebrates women's voice through this trailblazing writer.
First performed at Shakespeare's Globe, Emilia made its West End transfer at the Vaudeville Theatre in spring 2019. The cast is completed by Nadia Albina, Anna Andresen, Jackie Clune, Adelle Leonce, Jenni Maitland, Carolyn Pickles, Sarah Seggari, Sophie Stone, Charity Wakefield, Amanda Wilkin and Tanika Yearwood.
In a four-star review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mark Shenton said: "This is a play that speaks to today, as a woman finds her own story and the voice to tell it with. As fiercely embodied by not one but three actors - Saffron Coomber, Adelle Leonce and Clare Perkins - she comes alive with passion and conviction." Emilia is nominated for three Olivier Awards, including Best Entertainment or Comedy Play.
Emilia is available to watch online from 10-24 November. Tickets can be purchased here.
