Set in early 20th century Vienna, and inspired by playwright Tom Stoppard’s family history, Leopoldstadt  sees a Jewish family rediscover their religious identity throughout the 20th century. After a world premiere in January 2020, the show was forced to suspend performances on 14 March 2020. Leopoldstadt won Best New Play at the 2020 Olivier Awards, with Adrian Scarborough winning Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Scarborough is not returning to Leopoldstadt this summer.

In a five star review of Leopoldstadt, Mark Shenton said: “It's when the play personalises… that it is at its most potent and effective. It is played and staged with a glowing warmth throughout, with lovely and loving ensemble character work on display across the board.”
