Full cast revealed for James Graham's 'The Standard of Living'

James Graham, whose previous work include Dear England and Punch, is now focusing on the life of radical economist John Maynard Keynes, who became the driving force behind arts funding in Britain.

The full cast has been revealed for James Graham's new play The Standard of Living, which begins performances at Theatre Royal Haymarket on 21 September. Nicholas Hytner (Giant) directs.

Joining Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear (Skyfall) as John Maynard Keynes and Royal Ballet principal Natalia Osipova, who makes her West End debut as Lydia Lopokova, are Thomas Flynn (Bridgerton) as Keynes’s friend and lover Duncan Grant, Laurie Kynaston (Spring Awakening) as Keynes’s economic rival Friedrich Hayek, Pip Carter (1917) as writer and critic Lytton Strachey, Agatha Enecio as Bloomsbury group artist Dora Carrington, Naomi Frederick (As You Like It) as Virginia Woolf, Claire Price (The Second Best Marigold Hotel) as designer Vanessa Bell, and George Taylor (Rye Lane) as economist William Beveridge.

Completing the cast are Christopher Akrill, Luke Cinque-White Dannie Norman, Xolisweh Ana Richards, and Ben Warwick.

Graham, whose previous work include Dear England and Punch, is now focusing on the life of radical economist John Maynard Keynes, who became the driving force behind arts funding in Britain. The Standard of Living explores how he built a new and fairer financial model, which helped to reshape the Western World following the First World War.

The creative team includes set design by Bob Crowley, costume design by Jenny Beavan, movement direction by James Cousins, compositions by Frank Moon, lighting designer by Bruno Poet, sound design by Carolyn Downing, and projection design by Luke Halls, with ballet consultancy by Edward Watson.
