Full cast revealed for world premiere of 'Are You Watching?'

Are You Watching? looks at our consumption or and attitudes towards porn in a society that is seeing increasing violence against women and the rise of deepfakes.

The full cast and creative team has been announced for the world premiere of Georgie Dettmer's Are You Watching?, which begins performances at the Royal Court on 29 May running through 4 July.

The cast includes Kosar Ali, Billy Bolt, Abby McCann, Lucy McCormick, Olivier Award winner Maimuna Memon, and Nicholas Rowe.

Dettmer makes her professional playwriting debut with Are You Watching?, and Jess Edwards joins as director.

Are You Watching? looks at our consumption or and attitudes towards porn in a society that is seeing increasing violence against women and the rise of deepfakes. The show asks audiences to consider when the lines blur between entertainment and abuse.

Dettmer said: “Are You Watching? originated from my own experience of witnessing horrors online and the grimy interplay between consumption and complicity. The play calls upon us, our bodies together in the room, to bear witness - with no screens in sight! I look forward to welcoming audiences in May.”

Edwards added: “It's so exciting to be directing Are You Watching?, a show that asks us to look directly at where we invest our attention. Georgie has managed to bring together the darkest of human nature with catharsis and wit - inviting us to confront what makes us keep on watching, unable to tear our eyes away.”

The creative team also includes designer Georgia Wilmot, lighting designer Bethany Gupwell, composer and sound designer XANA, dramaturg Gillian Greer, intimacy coordinator Joana Nastari, and assistant director Yanni Ng.
