Daveed Diggs, Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos and Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton

Hamilton is now available to stream on Disney+

Lin-Manuel Miranda's revolutionary musical was filmed live on Broadway with its original cast.

Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's universally acclaimed stage musical, is now available to stream on Disney+. Filmed in 2016 at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre, this stream will allow fans to experience the show with its original cast, including Miranda and Tony-winners Leslie Odom Jr, Daveed Diggs, and Renée Elise Goldsberry. A Disney+ subscription is required to view.

Originally slated for a cinema release in October 2021, the film version was directed by the stage show's director, Thomas Kail. Kail's filming has itself been widely acclaimed, receiving a 100% "fresh" score on review amalgamation site Rotten Tomatoes

Hamilton tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton - a Caribbean  immigrant who made his way to America and became a leading figure in that country. It follows his story through the American Revolution and working under the first U.S. President George Washington, up until his death in a duel with his rival Aaron Burr.

Miranda's stage musical reimagines Hamilton's story by incorporating a mix of contemporary music styles including hip-hop and rap, and by casting a diverse cast to tell the epic story. As Miranda himself has said, "it's the story of America then told by America now".

Premiering on Broadway in 2015, Hamilton has continually broken box office records and successfully transferred to London in 2017. Future productions are planned for Sydney and across Europe.
