As previously announced, performances begin 16 February ahead of a 10 March opening at Secret Cinema's new flagship venue at Greenwich Peninsula.
Olivier Award winner George Maguire leads the crew as Captain Jack Sparrow alongside Phil Daniels as Barbossa, Lily Blunsom as Elizabeth Swann, Harrison Wilde as Will Turner, and Gleanne Purcell-Brown as Anamaria. Further casting will be announced in due course.
The first fully immersive theatrical experience based on the blockbuster film franchise, Secret Cinema's Pirates of the Caribbean places audiences directly inside the world of the first film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in which Captain Jack Sparrow must rescue a governor's daughter who has been kidnapped by pirates.
Olivier-winning director Matt Costain leads a creative team that also includes production designer Jason Sherwood, theatrical adaptor Kait Kerrigan, music supervisor Alan Williams, costume designer Susan Kulkarni, hair, wig, and makeup designer Helen Keane, casting director Stuart Burt CDG, and fight director Alex Payne.
“We’ve taken everything audiences love about our productions, the worlds, the characters, the spectacle and that feeling of being completely inside the story, and pushed it into a new type of live theatrical experience,” said Merritt Baer, Artistic Director and Producer of Secret Cinema, in a statement. “There’s no full film screening this time; instead, the story unfolds around you through live performance, spectacular stunts, music, film clips and a design that will dazzle and surprise audiences from the moment they arrive.”
