'Hamnet' sets West End cast and creative team
The Royal Shakespeare Company production will transfer to the West End in September.
Royal Shakespeare Company and Neal Street Productions, in association with Hera Pictures, have announced the casting for the West End transfer of Hament directed by Erica Whyman. The production will premiere at the Garrick Theatre, bringing the most significant box office advance in the theatre’s 134-year history.
Sarah Belcher (Joan), Will Brown (Burbage/Father John), Ajani Cabey (Hamnet), Frankie Hastings (Eliza/Customer), Karl Haynes (Ned), Alex Jarrett (Judith), Madeleine Mantock (Agnes Hathaway), Hannah McPake (Jude), Tom Varey (William Shakespeare), and Peter Wight (John/Will Kempe) will reprise their roles from the Royal Shakespeare Company production. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
The novel by Maggie O’Farrell, adapted for the stage by Lolita Chakrabarti, follows the life and love of Agnes Hathaway and William Shakespeare and the profound loss of their only son.
The production will feature set and costume design by Tom Piper, lighting by Prema Mehta, sound design by Simon Baker, music by Oğuz Kaplangi, casting by Amy Ball CDG, movement by Ayse Tashkiran, and fight choreography by Kate Waters.
