Jamie Muscato and Frances Mayli McCann to play the leads in 'The Great Gatsby' musical

The Broadway production of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel opened in April 2024, with Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada as the leads. The musical comes to the West End on 11 April.

Listen up, old sport! The lead cast has been revealed for The Great Gatsby, which transfers from Broadway to the London Coliseum in the West End on 11 April. The show will run until 7 September.

Jamie Muscato will play Jay Gatsby. His theatre credits include Anatole in the recent production of Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 at the Donmar Warehouse, as well as Moulin Rouge! (Piccadilly Theatre), Once (London Palladium), Les Misérables The Staged Concert (Sondheim Theatre), and Heathers The Musical (Theatre Royal Haymarket/The Other Palace).

He will be joined by Frances Mayli McCann, as Daisy Buchanan. Her stage appearances include Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde in the West End, as well as Death Note (London Palladium), Chess (Theatre Royal Drury Lane), Heathers The Musical (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Les Misérables (UK Tour), and Evita (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre).

The Broadway production of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel opened in April 2024, with Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada as the leads. The story follows mysterious millionaire, Jay Gatsby, who throws wild, hedonistic parties at his Long Island home, but really only pines for one thing — a reunion with his former flame Daisy Buchanan.

Muscato said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be stepping into the shoes of Jay Gatsby — a character so full of mystery, passion, and longing. Bringing this iconic role to life on the West End is an incredible honour, and I can’t wait to share this production with audiences.”

Mayli McCann added: "I’m beyond excited to bring Daisy Buchanan to life in this stunning production at the London Coliseum. She’s such a complex, captivating character, and I can’t wait to dive in to her world and share this timeless story with audiences in the heart of the West End."

The creative team includes book by Kait Kerrigan, music and lyrics by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen, and direction by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Dominique Kelley, costume design by Linda Cho, and scenic and projection design by Paul Tate de Poo III.

The team is completed by lighting designer Cory Pattak, sound designer Brian Ronan, and hair and wig designers Charles G. LaPointe and Rachael Geier. Arrangements are by Jason Howland, orchestrations are by Jason Howland and Kim Scharnberg, and the music producer is Billy Jay Stein.
