Get ready for the second act. Katherine Kingsley will join the Noises Off cast, taking over the role of Belinda Blair from 13 February. Noises Off is at the Phoenix Theatre.

Kingsley succeeds the role from Tracy-Ann Oberman, who plays her final performance on 11 February. Oberman leaves to star in The Merchant of Venice 1936.

Kingsley is a three-time Olivier-winning actress, with notable credits including Piaf at the Donmar Warehouse, Singin’ in the Rain at the Palace Theatre, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Noel Coward Theatre. She joins a cast including Felicity Kendal, Matthew Kelly, Alexander Hanson, Joseph Millson, Sasha Frost, Pepter Lunkuse, and Jonathan Coy.

Noises Off is a play-within-a-play that follows a touring theatre company as they try to stage a farce play, Nothing On. Each act sees the company at a different moment in the production: the final rehearsals, a matinee performance, and their final performance in Stockton-on-Tees.

In a four-star review of Noises Off, our critic said: “ Frayn’s play goes beyond slapstick to find a kind of existential panic in farce – the sense that we’re making it up as we go along, desperately trying to stay one step ahead of disaster.”

Lindsay Posner directs Michael Frayn’s play. The show features design by Simon Higlett, lighting design by Paul Pyant, and sound design by Greg Clarke.

Noises Off is at the Phoenix Theatre.
