The Old Man and the Pool, starring comedian Mike Birbiglia, will hit the West End this autumn following a critically acclaimed Broadway run. The one-man show will have a limited four-week run from 12 September to 7 October at the Wyndham’s Theatre.

“I’d like to think of my show as an event you could bring anyone age 12 through to 112,” Mike Birbiglia said in a statement. “It’s a series of jokes and stories about life and death and mortality that add up to a single story that will hopefully make you happier about your life than you were when you walked in.”

Birbiglia retells stories about his "coming-of-middle-age" journey, including how a medical scare prompted him to face his fear of a YMCA pool in order to get healthier. His comedic storytelling earned him sellout shows across the U.S., most recently at the Vivian Beaumont Theater on Broadway.

Producers Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Patrick Catullo, and Seaview said: “Working with Mike is a joy and we are thrilled to bring his hilarious and life-affirming comedy to the West End this autumn.”

The Old Man and the Pool will also appear at the Underbelly at McEwan Hall during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 22-27 August.

Birbiglia is a critically acclaimed director, actor, and comedian who has sold out multiple solo shows and appearing in films including The Fault in Our Stars, A Man Called Otto, and Trainwreck.
