- Other London stage stars such as Jessie Buckley were in attendance at the awards
Last night, the 83rd Golden Globes awards ceremony took place, honouring excellence in film and TV in 2025.
Attendees included stars such as celebrity power couple Timothée Chalamet (who won a best actor award for Marty Supreme) and Kylie Jenner, as well as Glinda herself — Ariana Grande. But, significantly, there were also a number of London stage stars up for awards, many of whom are returning to Theatreland this year.
Cynthia Erivo, who was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her thrillifying role as Elphaba in Wicked, will take to the stage in Kip Williams’s adaptation of Dracula from 4 February.
One of the night’s big winners was Hamnet, which took home awards for Best Motion Picture - Drama and a lead actress accolade for Jessie Buckley (who won an Olivier Award for her performance in Cabaret in 2022).
Maggie O'Farrell's novel was also seen on stage in the West End in 2023. Now, another of the show’s stars, Noah Jupe, will make his West End debut alongside Sadie Sink in Robert Icke’s production of Romeo and Juliet in March.
Paul Mescal, who plays Shakespeare in Hamnet, is set to star in a repertory season at the National Theatre, appearing in A Whistle in the Dark and Death of a Salesman.
