Sian Clifford to star in world premiere of ‘Good Grief’
'Good Grief' will be available to watch from February 2021.
The BAFTA Award-winning actress Sian Clifford will star in the world premiere of Lorien Haynes' Good Grief. Nikesh Patel will join Clifford in the two-person "hybrid" play, available to view from 15 Feb. 2021.
Rehearsed entirely on Zoom, Good Grief will combine film and theatre. Press material states "it's a romantic comedy about grief that's sharp, irreverent and quintessentially British."
"When I wrote 'Good Grief' - as a heartfelt one act comedy - no one said it was long enough to produce on stage. For it to have a life now - virtually - at a time where we miss and need theatre - is a truly wonderful thing" said Lorien Haynes. "Theatre has to survive and our art adapt, to make storytelling vital in the midst of this pandemic. I am so grateful for this short, sharp play to get out there - and shout 'GO THEATRE. We'll be back."
Sian Clifford will play Cat, perhaps best known for playing Claire in Fleabag opposite Phoebe Waller-Bridge. On stage, she's appeared in Consent at the Harold Pinter Theatre, and has also starred in the television adaptation of Quiz.
Ahead of appearing in the production, Clifford said: " It's really thrilling, a bit of a brain maze, structured around the stages of grief. I always said it would take a lot to get me back on stage, but the play blew me away, I absolutely tore through it, it made me weep. And I loved the idea of doing something radical and helping save our industry and to keep people engaged with the arts."
Nikesh Patel will play Adam, recently starring in Four Weddings and a Funeral on Hulu. Notable television credits include Artemis Fowl, directed by Kenneth Branah.
Good Grief tickets are available via Original Theatre, with more information here.
