'Stranger Things' actor Linnea Berthelsen to star in 'Darkling' at the Bush Theatre

Darkling revisits India's Bhopal disaster, in which a pesticide factory leaked 40 tonnes of toxic gas, creating history’s worst industrial disaster.

Stranger Things star Linnea Berthelsen will make her UK stage debut in the world premiere of Darkling at Bush Theatre, which runs at the west London venue from 5 September.

Written by Titas Halder (Foal) and directed by Matthew Xia (Tambo & Bones), Darkling revisits India's Bhopal disaster, in which a pesticide factory leaked 40 tonnes of toxic gas, creating history’s worst industrial disaster. The play explores the human cost of this ecological catastrophe, through the eyes of a young girl and her family.

Berthelsen is best known for her role of ‘Kali’ in Netflix hit Stranger Things. Her other projects include Devs for Hulu and the BBC, as well as Teenland, Natskygge, What Tyler Did and Sláinte.

The rest of the creative team includes designer Simon Kenny, lighting designer Rajiv Pattani, sound designer Beth Duke, composer Niraj Chag, movement director Anjali Mehra, and associate director Sara Aniqah Malik.
