‘Sugar Coat’ musical to open at Southwark Playhouse Borough

The pop-punk musical premiered at VAULT Festival in 2020.

Southwark Playhouse continues to programme new work with Sugar Coat. Sugar Coat begins performances at Southwark Playhouse Borough on 29 March, with an opening night on 31 March, and performances to 22 April.

The Sugar Coat musical follows one woman’s coming-of-age journey. Over eight years, she discovers her true identity and reclaims her body, set to Riot Grrl music.

Lilly Pollard and Joel Samuel’s show premiered at VAULT Festival in 2020. Celine Lowenthal directs Rachel Barnes, Eve De Leon Allen, Dani Heron, Anya Pearson and Sarah Workman, accompanied by an all female and non-binary band. The show features sound design by Lucy Baker Swinburn.

Sugar Coat is at Southwark Playhouse Borough.
