‘Tarantino Live’ sets European premiere at Riverside Studios
The show combines well-known scenes from Quentin Tarantino’s popular films with rock songs, in a state-of-the-art blend of film, theatre, and live music.
The first rule of Tarantino Live is you talk about Tarantino Live. After a world premiere in Los Angeles, the European premiere of Tarantino Live: Fox Force Five & The Tyranny of Evil Men will run at Riverside Studios this summer. Previews begin on 6 June, with an opening night on 13 June, and performances to 13 August.
The Tarantino-based experience celebrates the two-time Academy Award-winning director. In the show, the “Fox Force Five” — a group of Pulp Fiction-inspired superwomen — fight the Tyranny of Evil Men. The show combines film scenes from Reservoir Dogs and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with songs such as “Bang Bang” and “Son of a Preacher Man.”
Press material states the show is: “less a traditional movie-based musical, more a character driven concert that seamlessly merges the world of Hollywood and musical theatre into a 360-degree live-concert experience.”
“We are thrilled to bring the show to Riverside Studios, where the arts intersect in a historic film studio, and be a part of their rich history. Our team is enthusiastic about bringing our distinctive style of immersive theatre to London audiences and becoming a part of the vibrant creative community,” said Shane Scheel Executive Producer and co-creator of For the Record.
Anderson Davis and Sumie Maeda adapt Tarantino Live, with Davis directing, and Maeda choreographing. The creative team includes Matthew Steinbrenner (set design,) Steve Mazurek (costume design,) Chris Davey (lighting design,) and Ben Harrison (sound design.)
