‘The Spongebob Musical’ to open in London in 2023

Head to a pineapple under the sea, as The Spongebob Musical comes to London in 2023. As part of The Spongebob Musical’s nationwide tour, the show will play a five-week engagement at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Based on the Nickelodeon comedy of the same name, the musical follows Spongebob Squarepants and his friends as they save Bikini Bottom from an underwater volcano. The Spongebob Musical earned 12 Tony nominations in 2017, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

In a New York Theatre Guide review of The Spongebob Musical, a critic said: "SpongeBob SquarePants is for those who love non-stop creativity in costume, design, color, lighting, choreography, zany comedy, and madcap mayhem. If that is your cup of saltwater, swim down to the Palace Theatre and prepare to be swept up in a tidal wave of bubbling entertainment."

The Spongebob Musical iis based on the series by Stephen Hillenburg, written by Kyle Jarrow and conceived by Tina Landau. The musical features original songs by artists Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, and the Plain White T’s.
