Further casting has been announced for the West End transfer of City of Angels, opening at the Garrick Theatre next year.

The musical follows a writer as he is penning a new screenplay, and flicks between scenes from his life and the film he is writing. It has a book by Larry Gelbart, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by David Zippel.

Directed by Josie Rourke, Theo James and Jonathan Slinger will join the previously announced cast of the production, which includes Rosalie Craig, Hadley Fraser and Rebecca Trehearn who starred in the show when it ran at the Donmar Warehouse in 2015.

James will play Stone, and is known for his roles in the Hollywood films Divergent and Insurgent, and his theatre credits include Sex with Strangers at the Hampstead Theatre.

Slinger will play Buddy/Irwin, and is best-known for playing Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the West End. He has also recently appeared in Absolute Hell at the National Theatre and Fanny and Alexander at The Old Vic.

The cast of the musical also includes West End debuts from former Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts and Ugly Betty actor Vanessa Williams.

Rourke's production includes choreography by Stephen Mear, designs by Robert Jones, lighting by Howard Harrison, sound by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster, video designs by Duncan McLean and musical supervision by Gareth Valentine.

City of Angels is at the Garrick Theatre from  5th March 2020.
