West End cast announced for The Prince of Egypt at the Dominion Theatre

Initial casting has been announced for the upcoming world premiere of The Prince of Egypt, the stage musical adaptation of the popular Dreamworks film, which opens at the Dominion Theatre next year.

With original songs by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), and a book by Philip LaZebnik (Mulan), the story a riff on the Book of Exodus, and follows Moses on his journey from a prince of Egypt to leading the children of Israel out of his kingdom.

Luke Brady will play Moses. Brady is best-known for appearing in Jonathan Kent's production of Sweeney Todd in the West End, as well as St George and the Dragon at the National Theatre.

Liam Tamne, recently seen in The Light in the Piazza at the Southbank Centre, will play Ramses, Moses' adopted brother.

Christine Allado, who played Peggy Schuyler in the original West End cast of Hamilton, will play Tzipporah and Alexia Khadime, a Wicked alumni having played Elphaba in London, will play Miriam.

The Prince of Egypt is at the Dominion Theatre from 5th February, with an official opening night on 25th February.

Earlier this week, the full creative team of the musical was announced. Directed by Scott Schwartz, the production will have choreography by Sean Cheesman, set designs by Kevin Depinet, costumes by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting by Mike Billings, sound designs by Gareth Owen.

The original Prince of Egypt film premiered in 1998, featuring the voices of Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock and Jeff Goldblum. It also features the song "When You Believe", a duet between Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, which will feature in the musical.

The Prince of Egypt is at the Dominion Theatre from 5th February.
