Wicked: For Good, the second instalment of the screen adaptation of Wicked, has released a trailer, ahead of its cinema release on 21 November.
The trailer for Wicked: For Good shows Elphaba in hiding, following her rebellion against the Wizard's manipulation and control over Oz. The trailer also teases Glinda and Fiyero's wedding, which is not shown in the stage adaptation, as well as a potential new number and several explicit references to the film's source material The Wizard of Oz. Casting remains unconfirmed for Dorothy, although the trailer shows us a glimpse of her.
Starring Ariana Grande and Cythia Erivo in the lead roles of Glinda and Elphaba, Wicked: For Good comes a year after the first film hit cinemas, becoming the highest-grossing musical film adaptation made to date. The film also picked up 10 Academy Award nominations.
In addition to Granda and Erivo, the film includes a number of other stars including Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz. You can find out the other familiar West End faces in the first Wicked film here.
Based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel of the same name, Wicked opened in the West End in 2006, which means it will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.
