Born in Wales in 1991, Lucie Jones is a singer and actress who has become one of the West End’s leading ladies in recent years.
While growing up, Jones would regularly perform in her local community, as well as global Scouting events. Then, at the age of 18, Jones competed in the sixth series of The X Factor, reaching the live shows, against acts including Stacey Solomon, Olly Murs and Joe McElderry. Kicked out of the competition mid-way through the live shows, her television appearances got her noticed by West End producers.
Jones made her professional acting debut soon after, playing Cosette in the West End production of Les Miserables in 2010. This began her musical theatre career, later starring in a musical adaptation of American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre in 2013. She’s also been in national touring productions, including Meat in We Will Rock You, Maureen in Rent, Holly in The Wedding Singer and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
In 2019, Jones returned to the West End, taking over the role of Jenna in Waitress from Katharine McPhee. She played the role at the Adelphi Theatre for nine months, before Sara Bareilles made her West End debut in her own musical. Jones was due to return to Waitress from March 2020, but performances were cancelled due to the pandemic, with Waitress eventually closing its doors early. She also starred in A Christmas Carol at the Dominion Theatre in December 2020, but shows were suspended after a week in due to another lockdown.
Away from the West End, Jones has made her name in the music scene. She represented the United Kingdom in Eurovision 2017, coming in 15th place after singing “Never Give Up on You” in Ukraine.
In 2021, Jones returned to Les Miserables, playing Fantine at the Sondheim Theatre. She appeared in the all-star concerts, alongside Jon Robyns, Bradley Jaden and Shan Ako.
In 2022, Jones took over the role of Elphaba in Wicked. Following this, she'll return to Les Miserables to play Fantine.
