The West End is bursting with a variety of productions for all ages. There’s bright and bold West End musicals which are suitable for introducing little ones to live theatre. There’s heartfelt, sentimental London plays which will make you see the world with a different perspective. And in smaller London theatres, Off-West End shows often stun audiences before taking over the world.

There's one common theme between the vast majority of live theatre though — the use of live music and singing. Well what if there were London shows which put a spotlight on music and original scores? To take a line from Mamma Mia!, we say “Thank You for the Music” at these London musical theatre concerts.

Experience the best of London’s theatre scene without watching a musical and head to musical theatre concerts around the city. Whether these live music events feel like a festival atmosphere or they're more reflective, you'll leave these concerts with a wider appreciation for a show's music.

Musicals by Candlelight

There's something happening on every London street corner. But what if you could escape the real world for a few moments and find a calm place? Head to the Actors Church in London and listen to a string quartet play musical theatre classics at Musicals by Candlelight.

The Icon String Quartet will perform songs from a variety of West End musicals currently running such as The Lion King, My Fair Lady and Moulin Rouge! The Musical. There’ll also be songs from beloved West End favourites including The Sound of Music and Cats.

The Musicals by Candlelight concerts will take place in a well-known theatre location too. St Paul’s Church is also called The Actors Church — a 17th-century church which gained its stagey moniker due to the opening of Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the Royal Opera House.
