About As You Like It

Rose Ayling-Ellis makes her West End debut in As You Like It at Soho Place. Be transported to the Forest of Arden in this classic Shakespeare play.

At the start of the As You Like It play, Duke Senior is forced to the Forest of Arden by Duke Frederick. Duke Senior’s daughter, Rosalind, must keep Duke Frederick’s daughter, Celia, company. While in court, Celia sees Orlando, son of the late Sir Rowland de Boys. As soon as Orlando locks eyes on Celia, they fall in love.

Suddenly, Rosalind is banished from court, so Rosalind and Celia, along with the court jester Touchstone, decide to dress up — Rosalind as the boy Ganymede and Celia as Ganymede's sister, Aliena — to protect themselves. While in the forest, they encounter a variety of characters who will change the way they view the world. But in this forest, who is allowed to love?

William Shakespeare’s As You Like It play challenges preconceived notions of romance. There’s plenty of well-known Shakespeare sayings in As You Like It too: listen out for Jaques saying “all the world’s a stage,” and Rosalind declaring that someone can have “too much of a good thing”. Experience the romantic comedy in its full glory with As You Like It tickets.

As You Like It in London boasts a star cast. Strictly Come Dancing winner and Eastenders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis makes her West End debut as Celia. She’s joined by Leah Harvey as Rosalind, Alfred Enoch as Orlando, Tom Mison as Touchstone, and Martha Plimpton as Jaques. The production is also the first in-house show at the newest West End theatre, Soho Place.
