About Please Please Me

Experience the behind-the-scenes workings of the Beatles in Please Please Me, Tom Wright's bold new play about Brian Epstein, the Beatles' manager, starring Calam Lynch and Noah Ritter. Book Please Please Me tickets on London Theatre.

Tom Wright's new play shines a spotlight on the man who made the Beatles' rise possible, exploring how Epstein shaped the group's image while also wrestling deeply with the skeletons in his closet, his own desire, and vulnerabilities. Set in the heyday of the 1960s, this drama follows Brian from his family's Liverpool record shop to his journey with the Beatles as his professional feats start to clash with his private life in very real, dangerous ways. Rather than exploring the band itself, this play instead chooses to focus on Epstein's relationship to John Lennon and the great emotional charge that came with it.

Please Please Me is a play directed by Amit Sharma, and it stars Calam Lynch as Brian and Noah Ritter as John, with Eleanor Worthington-Cox playing Cynthia, Cilla, and Aunt Mimi. William Robinson plays as Peter, Mike, and Dizz, with Arthur Wilson appearing as Geoffrey, Harry, and Derek.

Alongside this brilliant cast is a formidable creative team, including set and costume design by Tom Piper, co-costume design by Deborah Andrews, lighting design by Rory Beaton, and composing and sound design by David Shrubsole.

Please Please Me in London is a major historical drama filled with great intimacy and heartbreaking pain. The performances bring much soul to the stage, amplifying Wright's brilliant writing. Please Please Me tells the story of a man who cultivated a great cultural phenomenon but never found true freedom for himself.

While the story is historical, it sheds light on what it means to come out of the closet and the consequences that come with it.
