About Miss Myrtle's Garden

The world premiere of the witty and thoughtful play Miss Myrtle's Garden comes to the Bush Theatre. Book Miss Myrtle's Garden tickets on London Theatre.

Miss Myrtle's Garden is a play that tells the story of the elderly Jamaican-British woman, Miss Myrtle, who is struggling with memory loss, often talking to her deceased husband and confusing her gardener, Eddie, for him. Things keep changing when her grandson and his 'friend' move in with her and as she and Eddie develop a tenuous bond. As Miss Myrtle's confusion worsens, it's time for everyone to make difficult decisions. This touching piece of theatre explores how we can acknowledge the past as we face our present.

The talented cast bringing the story to life are Michael Ahomka-Lindsay (Reverberation), Mensah Bediako (Master Harold and the Boys), Diveen Henry (Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White), Gary Lilburn (The Weir), and Elander Moore (Netflix's Kaos).

Miss Myrtle's Garden in London is by Danny James King whose first play, Bounty, was runner up at the Alfred Fagon Awards.

Danny James King said of the play, “The play features five characters from very different backgrounds who are forced to find common ground amongst the weeds in Miss Myrtle's garden. As they face emotions and challenges that so many of us share, it becomes clear to them that what they have in common is far more interesting than what divides them.”

The talented creative team includes direction by incoming Bush Theatre Artistic Director Taio Lawson (Hamilton), set and costume design is by Khadija Raza (The Unknown Island), lighting design is by Joshua Gadsby (Who Killed My Father (Tron & UK Tour)), and sound design by Dan Balfour (Dear England).
