Not Your Superwoman in London stars Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton).

Together, they tell the story of Joyce and her daughter, Erica, who are struggling following the death of their family matriarch. Despite Joyce’s best efforts to give Erica a better life, Erica begins to wonder whether she’s any different from her mum or her mum’s mum. “Maybe they didn’t break the cycle. Maybe the cycle can never be broken.” This play is an impactful tale of familial expectation, self-discovery, and resilience.

Not Your Superwoman is a play by Emma Dennis-Edwards (BRICKS). This production was previously titled Superwoman Schema. The show is directed by Lynette Linton, Bush Theatre’s outgoing artistic director.

“I’m so thrilled that Golda and Letitia, two actresses I have long admired, have agreed to join me in my last season at the Bush,” Linton said. “Both women recognise the importance of new writing and the development of creative talent that happens here. Without new practitioners being given opportunities to break through into the industry, there wouldn’t be Bridgerton or Black Panther, or Avengers.”

The talented creative team also includes set and costume design by Alex Berry (Macbeth (an undoing)), lighting design by Jai Morjaria (Wuthering Heights), video design by Gino Ricardo Green (Tambo & Bones), sound design by Max Pappenheim (The Habit of Art), hair and makeup design by Cynthia De La Rosa (Blues for an Alabama Sky) and composer XANA (Alterations).
