Born in Croydon in 1971, Derren Brown is a world-renowned mentalist. Brown started his career at Bristol University, putting on small scale stage shows. Following this, he starred in his first televised show Mind Control in 2000 which consisted on three different hour long specials and gained much acclaim.
Due to high popularity, Mind Control returned in 2003 as a six part series. He later produced three series of Trick of the Mind, two series of Trick or Treat and The Experiments. He has also produced 12 hour-long specials including Apocalypse, convincing a member of the public the world had ended. For The Experiments, he won the BAFTA for Best Entertainment Programme.
On stage, Brown has produced and performed many shows with psychological manipulation being the central article, often revealing how he performed the seemingly magic tricks. His shows include Something Wicked This Way Comes, which won an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment in 2005.
