Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Cinderella’ sets West End reopening date in August
'Cinderella' will now resume performances from 18 August.
The world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella will now resume performances on 18 August. Cinderella tickets are on sale now.
Cinderella performances have been suspended from 17 July, due to a positive Covid test within the company. The Cinderella press night will now take place at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 25 August.
In a statement from Andrew Lloyd Webber earlier this week, he said:
"Today, on this "Freedom Day", I have been forced to take the heart-breaking decision not to open my Cinderella... the impossible conditions created by the blunt instrument that is the Government's isolation guidance, mean that we cannot continue. We have been forced into a devastating decision which will affect the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of people and disappoint the thousands who have booked to see the show.
Cinderella was ready to go. My sadness for our cast and crew, our loyal audience and the industry I have been fighting for is impossible to put into words."
Cinderella performances began at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 25 June. Cinderella stars Carrie Hope Fletcher in the title role, alongside Ivano Turco as Prince Sebastian, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as the Stepmother and Laura Baldwin and Georgina Castle as stepsisters Adele and Marie. A Cinderella concept album was released earlier this month, which you can listen to here.
