Arthur Darvill to star in ‘Rare Earth Mettle’ at Royal Court

Al Smith's play will begin performances next month.

The full cast for the world premiere of Al Smith's Rare Earth Mettle has been revealed, finally opening at the Royal Court over a year after it was first scheduled. Originally billed to run in April 2020, Rare Earth Mettle is now at the Royal Court from 10 November - 18 December. 

Set on a salt flat in South America, a British doctor and a Silicon Valley billionaire meet at an abandoned train station. When the locals encounter these strangers, both parties wish to stake their claim on the land, with everyone trying to claim they work for the greater good. 

The Rare Earth Mettle cast includes Arthur Darvill, who has previously been in Sweet Charity at the Donmar Warehouse, as well as television shows including Broadchurch and Grace. Rachael Ofori also stars, appearing in Rare Earth Mettle just weeks after appearing in Bach and Sons at the Bridge Theatre. Casting is completed by Carlo Albán, Marcello Cruz, Jaye Griffiths, Lesley Lemon, Ian Porter and Genevieve O'Reilly. 

Rare Earth Mettle is by Al Smith, returning to the Royal Court after writing Harrogate. Hamish Pirie directs, with movement by Yami Löfvenberg, scenic design by Moi Tran, lighting design by Lee Curran and sound design by Ella Wahlström.

Is God Is is currently playing at the Royal Court to 23 October. Is God Is tickets are on sale now.

Rare Earth Mettle is now at the Royal Court from 10 November - 18 December.
