Cast recording of world premiere production of The Prince of Egypt released

UPDATE: The cast recording of The Prince of Egypt will be available in CD form from 20 November. 

An original cast recording of the world premiere of The Prince of Egypt has now been released, two months after the show made its debut at the Dominion Theatre. The musical's soundtrack features ten original songs written for the musical by Stephen Schwartz, who also wrote the music for the movie of the same name, with songs including "Deliver Us" and "When You Believe".

Based on the DreamWorks animation, The Prince of Egypt retells the biblical story of Moses as told in the Book of Exodus, with Moses rising up to free his people and lead the Israelites to safety.

The Prince of Egypt features an original soundtrack by Stephen Schwartz, whose songwriting credits include Wicked, Pippin and Godspell. In his career, he's won three Grammys, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards.

The album stars the original West End cast of The Prince of Egypt, including Luke Brady as Moses, Liam Tamne as Ramses, Alexia Khadime as Miriam and Christine Allado as Tziporrah.

Debbie Kurup stars as Queen Tuya, with Gary Wilmot as Jethro, Joe Dixon as Seti, Adam Pearce as Hotep, Tanisha Spring as Nefertari, Silas Wyatt-Barke as Aaron and Mercedesz Csampai as Yocheved. The cast is completed by Simbi Akande, Casey Al-Shaqsy, Joe Atkinson, Danny Becker, Felipe Bejarano, Pàje Campbell, Adam Filipe, Soophia Foroughi, Natalie Green, Jack Harrison-Cooper, Rachael Ireson, Kalene Jeans, Christian Knight, Jessica Lee, Oliver Lidert, Jay Marsh, Scott Maurice, Carly Miles, Sam Oladeinde, Alice Readie, Christopher Short, Ricardo Walker, Danny Williams, Niko Wirachman and Sasha Woodward.

The musical's creative team features a book by Philip LaZebnik and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Scott Schwartz directs, with lighting design by Mike Billings, sound by Gareth Owen, design by Kevin Depinet and choreography by Sean Cheesman.

The Prince of Egypt was first performed at the Dominion Theatre on 5th February, ahead of the musical's official premiere on 25th February.
