UPDATE: The Last Five Years has been filmed and will be released worldwide on the platform, stream.theatre. The show will be available to watch for a final time on stream.theatre on selected dates to 14 February. More information can be found here.

The Last Five Years is coming back to Southwark Playhouse this fall, and the original company is coming with the production. Molly Lynch and Olli Higginson will return to their roles as Cathy and Jamie in the two-person musical, after their run was cut short on 16 March when the production prematurely closed due to Covid-19 shutdown.

The musical will run 1-31 October at Southwark Playhouse, and Lynch and Higginson will form the same "support bubble" during that time and won't follow social distancing guidelines onstage. The theater is implementing social distancing protocols for the audience, including operating at 50% capacity, installing see-through screens between each party, hand sanitiser throughout the front-of-house area, cashless bar and box office, and more. Written by Jason Robert Brown, The Last Five Years follows Jamie and Cathy's relationship, with Jamie telling the story from beginning to end and Cathy going in reverse. The two narratives only connect once, in the middle of the musical at the couple's wedding. The Southwark Playhouse production is directed by O'Jonathan Boyle.
