'Clueless the Musical' to have UK premiere in 2024
Clueless the Musical will make its UK premiere at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley in a new production featuring music by KT Tunstall and lyrics by Glenn Slater.
Clueless is set to make its UK premiere in an exclusive two-week developmental run at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley. The musical will begin performances on 12 February 2024, with performances through 24 February 2024.
Based on the hit film, Clueless follows Cher Horowitz, the fashionable queen bee, as she takes on her most ambitious project when she gives her socially awkward friend Tai a makeover to impress the most popular guy in class. The story is a contemporary twist on Jane Austen's novel Emma.
The original Off-Broadway production in 2018 featured popular '80s and '90s songs. The new UK production will feature music by Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and lyrics by Grammy winner and three-time Tony Award nominee Glenn Slater (Sister Act, Tangled).
Clueless has a book by Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the 1995 film, and will be directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George), with further creatives to be confirmed.
