Daniel Rigby will play the Maniac in a new adaptation of Accidental Death of an Anarchist. The play begins previews at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre on 13 March, ahead of an opening night on 17 March, and performances to 8 April.

Tom Basden adapts Dario Fo and Franca Rame’s play with a contemporary London setting. Accidental Death of an Anarchist follows a maniac as he puts on a show while he’s detained in a police station. As the maniac recreates events, cover-ups and corrupt officers are exposed.

Rigby will lead the Accidental cast as the Maniac. The Eric and Ernie star is best known for his BAFTA-winning performance as Eric Morecambe. He previously starred in Noises Off at Lyric Hammersmith.

Daniel Raggett directs a cast including Shane David-Joseph as Constable Joseph, Tony Gardner as Superintendent Curry, Jordan Metcalfe as Detective Daisy, Ruby Thomas as Fi Phelan, and Howard Ward as Inspector Burton.
