Dorothea Myer-Bennett joins 'Nachtland' as Romola Garai steps down
Dorothea Myer-Bennett, who joins the cast as Nicola, has starred in London shows including Leopoldstadt, Much Ado About Nothing, and While the Sun Shines.
The Young Vic has announced that Dorothea Myer Bennett (Leopoldstadt) will join the cast of Nachtland, as Romola Garai (Atonement) withdraws from the production. The show opens on 20 February.
The casting changed was announced on the Young Vic's social media channels.
A statement on the theatre's Instagram account said: "Update on Nachtland: Dorothea Myer-Bennett will be joining the cast as regrettably Romola Garai has had to step down from the production. We’d like to thank Romola for her time with the production, and for her warm wishes for the show. We'll be reaching out to everyone who has booked a ticket for Nachtland today."
The rest of the cast includes Jane Horrocks (Little Voice, Cabaret, Absolutely Fabulous), John Heffernan (Much Ado About Nothing, Edward II, Dracula), Angus Wright (Flowers, Peep Show, Oresteia), Gunnar Cauthery (All My Sons, Little Shop of Horrors), and Jenna Augen (Leopoldstadt, Bad Jews, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery).
Marius von Mayenburg's play, directed by Patrick Marber, is a satire about marriage, legacy, and the rise of the new right, and is set in modern-day Germany.
