Full cast announced for world premiere of ‘Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical’
Arinzé Kene plays the Jamaican artist in the biographical musical, opening in October.
Ahead of the world premiere of Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical in London later this year, the full cast has been named. Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical is at the Lyric Theatre from 1 October, with tickets on sale now.
As previously announced, the Olivier Award-nominated actor Arinzé Kene will portray Bob Marley in the musical. He's joined by Gabrielle Brooks as Rita Marley, Bob Marley's wife. Gabrielle Brooks recently starred in J'Ouvert at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
Melissa Brown-Taylor will play Marcia Griffiths, with Shanay Holmes as Cindy Breakspeare, Natey Jones as Peter Tosh, Sophia Mackay as Judy Mowatt and Jacade Simpson as Bunny Wailer. The cast is completed by Daniel Bailey, Craig Blake, Charles Blyth, Maxwell Cole, Athena Collins, Michael Duke, Kimmy Edwards, Raphael Estavia, Henry Faber, Cannon Hay, Savanna Jeffrey, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton, Cleopatra Rey, Julene Robinson, Nate Simpson, Archie Smith, Declan Spaine, Jaime Tait and Teddy Wills.
Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical will dramatise the late performer's life from Jamaica to London. The production is set to share his musical message to his greatest hits, including "No Woman No Cry" and "Exodus." You can listen to Bob Marley songs that may feature in the musical here.
Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical is written by Lee Hall, whose playwriting credits include Billy Elliot and Network. Clint Dyer directs, with choreography by Shelley Maxwell, scenic design by Chloe Lamford, costume design by Lisa Duncan, lighting design by Charles Balfour and sound design by Tony Gayle.
The Lyric Theatre is currently home to Six, with performances to 29 August.
