Hollywood actor Gabriel Byrne will make his West End debut with his solo show Walking with Ghosts. Walking with Ghosts will play 14 performances at the Apollo Theatre from 6 - 17 September.

The Walking with Ghosts play is inspired by Byrne’s Dublin upbringing. The play sees Byrne reflect on a childhood living in and around the city, and what eventually sparked imagination to begin an acting career.

Walking with Ghosts premiered at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin in February. “It was a real joy to hear laughter in a theatre during the premiere run of Walking with Ghosts in Dublin,” said Byrne.

“I've chosen to be honest and unflinching in the recounting of a life from working class Dublin to Hollywood. Although rooted in the local, I hope the play has a universal resonance. What I want in the theatre is to be moved to laugh ... to be provoked ... to be changed.”

Byrne’s theatre credits include Broadway productions of A Moon for the Misbegotten and Long Day’s Journey into Night. His film credits include Excalibur, Hereditary and The 33.

Lonny Price directs Walking with Ghosts. Set and lighting design is by Sinéad McKenna, with costume design by Joan O’Clery and sound design by Sinéad Diskin.
