Chekhov’s extraordinary final play, The Cherry Orchard, is returning to the West End in a new production adapted by the acclaimed writer Conor McPherson (The Weir, Girl from the North Country), and directed by the Olivier-nominated Ian Rickson (Jerusalem, Uncle Vanya).

The production at the Harold Pinter Theatre also features a remarkable cast, playing the Russian family whose world is on the brink of irrevocable change, as well as the friends, lovers, neighbours, and servants caught in their orbit. Get to know the company ahead of your trip.

Kristin Scott Thomas

The acclaimed Bafta and Olivier Award-winning stage and screen star plays aristocratic landowner Ranevskaya. Scott Thomas’s screen credits include The English Patient, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Gosford Park, and Slow Horses, while on stage, she has appeared in productions ranging from The Seagull, The Audience and Electra to Betrayal, Three Sisters, and Old Times.

Stephen Mangan

Mangan plays peasant-turned-wealthy merchant Lopakhin. He is currently starring in hit West End comedy The Truth, and his other stage credits include Unicorn, Private Lives, The Norman Conquests, Noises Off, and Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, while his TV projects include Green Wing, Episodes, Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years, and The Split.

Ruby Bentall

Bentall plays governess (and occasional magician and ventriloquist) Sharlotta. Her theatre work includes Our Country’s Good, All’s Well That Ends Well, Remembrance Day, and Hansel and Gretel. She’s also appeared in TV shows like Industry, The Serpent Queen, Poldark, and Lost in Austen, and films such as Misbehaviour and The Personal History of David Copperfield.

Megan Cusack

Cusack plays the flirtatious chambermaid Dunyasha. She previously starred in TV shows like Call the Midwife and Say Nothing, while her theatre work includes productions such as On the Outside, Playboy of the Western World, Three Sisters, The Country Girls, Women of Paradise, The Dark Horse, and another version of The Cherry Orchard.

Karl Johnson

Johnson plays the loyal, elderly manservant Firs. His extensive theatre work includes The Crucible, Under Milk Wood, The Seafarer, Uncle Vanya, Wild Honey, Endgame, King Lear, Girl from the North Country, Hamlet, Fathers and Sons, and Amadeus. On screen, he’s appeared in Hot Fuzz, The Illusionist, Mammals, Dickensian, Mum, Merlin, and Death Valley.

Noof Ousellam

Ousellam plays the restless and predatory young manservant Yasha. His screen projects include Silo, Rebus, Bridgerton, Vigil, Andor, Guilt, Hanna, Trust Me, The Undertow, and The Mummy, while on stage, he’s appeared in Macbeth, Baghdaddy, Leopoldstadt, Wildefire, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Buggy Baby, Respect, and Rendition Monologues.

Nadia Parkes

Parkes plays Anya, Ranevskaya’s courageous 17-year-old daughter, who journeys to Paris to rescue her mother and bring her home. This rising star has appeared in Juniper Blood and The House Party on stage and, on screen, TV shows like Youth, Hit Point, Kidnapped, Tokyo Vice, The Spanish Princess, and Starstruck, and films such as The Ketamine Detective and Finding Emily.

Jack Riddiford

Riddiford plays Anya’s friend, the eternal student – and ardent left-wing campaigner – Trofimov. His theatre work includes Jerusalem, Cleansed, Romeo and Juliet, The Duchess of Malfi, Stereophonic, The Caretaker, The Inheritance, A View from the Bridge, and Macbeth, and his screen work includes We Are Lady Parts, Deceit, Poldark, Journey’s End, and Dunkirk.

Vinette Robinson

Robinson plays Ranevskaya’s adopted daughter Varya, who manages the estate – and the family. Her numerous stage credits include Othello, Emilia, Albion, Welcome to Thebes, Measure for Measure, War and Peace, and Paradise Lost, while her screen work includes Time, Boiling Point, The Lazarus Project, Sherlock, The Thing with Feathers, and Vera Drake.

Shubham Saraf

Saraf plays the unfortunate clerk Yepikhodov, a clumsy, hapless character in love with Dunyasha. His theatre work includes An Enemy of the People, The Father and the Assassin, and Romeo and Juliet, while his screen projects include TV shows like Star City, Shantaram, Dirty Business, A Suitable Boy, and Bodyguard, and movies like Cliffhanger and Elsinore.

Peter Wight

Wight plays Ranevskaya’s brother Gaev, an eccentric man with a love of billiards and a lack of real-world understanding. Wight’s extensive stage work includes Three Sisters, London Tide, Waiting for Godot, Hamnet, Oresteia, Uncle Vanya, and Rosmersholm. His screen work includes Sherwood, Pride and Prejudice, Hot Fuzz, Another Year, Mr Turner, Cyrano, and Atonement.
