Giles Terera to star in ‘The Witches of Eastwick’ concert

The one-night-only concert will take place at the Sondheim Theatre.

The Witches of Eastwick will return to the West End in concert later this year. Maria Friedman will direct The Witches of Eastwick concert, which is taking place at the Sondheim Theatre on 20 June.

Set in Eastwick, The Witches of Eastwick tells the tale of the people who live in the the town, centring on three women — Alexandra, Sukie and Jane. When Darryl Van Horne arrives in town, the women believe he’s the devil incarnate, and Darryl seduces the women.

The Olivier-winning actor Giles Terera will play Darryl Van Horne. Terera is best known for playing Aaron Burr in Hamilton. Later this year, he’ll star in Blues for an Alabama Sky at the National Theatre. Further casting is to be announced.

Maria Friedman will direct The Witches of Eastwick. Currently, she’s on stage in Maria Friedman and Friends - Legacy at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Stephen Mear provides musical staging for the upcoming concert. The Witches of Eastwick features a book and lyrics John Dempsey and music by Dana P. Rowe.

The Witches of Eastwick London concert will be the first West End production of The Witches in Eastwick in 20 years. “I’m so incredibly excited to be revisiting Eastwick after all these years,” said Friedman. “To be reunited with the fantastic Stephen Mear and to have the opportunity to bring this beloved musical back to London, and at the simply stunning Sondheim Theatre, for one night only is an absolute thrill and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Witches of Eastwick is at the Sondheim Theatre on 20 June.
