Lead casting has been revealed for [*Burlesque the Musical*](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/35510-burlesque), which begins performances at the Savoy Theatre in the West End on 10 July.

Returning to the show following previews in Manchester and Glasgow are musician Jess Folley as Ali Rose, Todrick Hall (who has written new music for the show alongside Folley, and also choreographs and directs) as Sean, and Olivier Award winner George Maguire as Vince. 

Also joining the cast are Broadway star Orfeh (*Pretty Woman the Musical, Legally Blonde, Saturday Night Fever, Footloose*) as Tess, Paul Jacob French (*An Officer and a Gentleman, Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Grease*) as Jackson, and Asha Parker Wallace, who makes her professional and West End debut as Nikki.   

The new musical based on Steven Antin’s 2010 film, which stars Christina Aguilera and Cher, follows Ali as she heads to New York in search of her mother. Once there, she is drawn into a world, which sets her on an entirely different path.

The creative team also includes Steven Antin (Book Writer/Producer), Christina Aguilera, Sia, Todrick Hall, and Jess Folley (Music and Lyrics), Kate Wetherhead (Additional material – Book),  Tom Curran (Orchestrator and Arranger), Nate Bertone (Set Designer), Marco Marco (Costume Designer), Roberto Surace (Additional Costume Designs), Rory Beaton (Lighting Designer), Nina Dunn (Video Designer) Ben Harrison (Sound Designer), Jessica Plews (Wigs and Hair Designer),  Dominic Skinner (Make-up Designer), Chris Poon (Musical Director).

Further casting will be announced at a later date.

*Burlesque the Musical* in London has an excellent creative team led by director and choreographer Todrick Hall (*Kinky Boots*).

"This is a huge milestone in my life and career," said Hall. "I've always dreamt of being involved in the creative side of a brand new original musical, and I'm privileged, flattered and ecstatic to make my directorial debut with *Burlesque The Musical*!"

## What to watch for 

- *Burlesque* (the film) won a Golden Globe Award for the song "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me."
- This musical was an instant success, premiering at the Manchester Opera House in June 2024, followed by a run in Glasgow and a return to Manchester in October 2024. 
- One of Steven Antin's inspirations for the story came from his sister, Robin, who was a member and creator of the band The Pussycat Dolls. The group performed at the Roxy Theatre with a variety of artists including Christina Aguilera, and Antin directed some of their shows. 
- In addition to being a director and choreographer Todrick Hall is a performer known for performing in shows like *Kinky Boots* and *Chicago*.

*Burlesque The Musical* is a musical that first began as a 2010 film starring Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, Julianne Hough, Alan Cumming, and Peter Gallagher. The film won a Golden Globe for the song "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me."

*Burlesque The Musical* in London is written by Steven Antin and is based on his original film. Additional material is written by Kate Wetherhead. The songs in the musical are by Christina Aguilera, Sia, and Diane Warren. Additional songs are by Todrick Hall and Jess Folley. 

Christina Aguilera is also an executive producer of Burlesque the Musical. In a statement, she said,  "I'm proud that *Burlesque The Musical* is coming to London's West End! ## How to get to the Savoy Theatre 
The Savoy Theatre is centrally located in London and is easily accessible by both public and private transport. The theatre is easily reachable by bus, tube, and rail services. The nearest tube stations are Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines), Embankment (District, Circle, Bakerloo, and Northern lines), and Covent Garden (Piccadilly line). For those who prefer buses, services 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, 87, 91, 139, and 176 stop near the theatre. For patrons driving private vehicles, the closest Q-Park car park is available at the nearby Chinatown. The theatre also participates in the Q-Park Theatreland Scheme, offering a 50% discount on parking.

The Savoy Theatre opened on 21 Oct. 1929. The building was known for being the first public building to be lit entirely by electricity. 

When a fire ravaged the theatre in 1990, destroying the interior, it was meticulously restored by Sir William Whitfield to the original 1929 designs. The theatre reopened on 19 Jul. 1993.

The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company played several seasons at the theatre over the past 20 years, their last production being *HMS Pinafore* in 2003. 

The theatre has also housed several musicals, including *She Loves Me* in 1994 starring John Gordon Sinclair and Ruthie Henshall, and has played host to musicals exclusively since 2006. 

## Savoy Theatre Seating Information

The auditorium has three levels - Stalls, Dress Circle and Grand Circle.

In the Stalls, the legroom throughout is very good, and the seating is well raked to ensure good views.

In the Dress Circle, the overhang of the Grand Circle affects the view from Row K onwards. The amount of legroom also decreases the further back you sit.

The Grand Circle feels rather far from the stage.
