Marina Carr's ‘Girl on an Altar’ sets full cast

The play runs at the Kiln Theatre.

Find out the full cast for Marina Carr’s Girl on an Altar in London, opening in May. Girl on an Altar begins previews at the Kiln Theatre on 19 May, with an opening night on 25 May and performances to 25 June.

The Girl on an Altar play retells the Greek myth of Clytemnestra. During the play, Clytemnestra’s husband Agamemnon sacrifices their daughter for war. 10 years later, the married couple are reunited, but forgiving one another proves difficult.

Eileen Walsh plays Clytemnestra and David Walmsley plays Agamemnon. The Girl on an Altar cast is completed by Nina Bowers as Cassandra, Daon Broni as Aegisthus, Jim Findle as Tyndareus and Kate Stanley Brennan as Cilissa.

Marina Carr’s previous London plays include Blood Wedding at the Young Vic, By The Bog of Cats and Portia Coughlan.

Girl on an Altar is a partnership between the Kiln Theatre and Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s national theatre.

The Girl on an Altar play features direction by Annabelle Comyn, design by Tom Piper, lighting design by Amy Mae, costume supervision by Isobel Pellow and composition and sound design by Philip Stewart.
