Matt Henry to star in ‘The Drifters Girl’ alongside Beverley Knight

The Drifters' jukebox musical opens at the Garrick Theatre in November.

Ahead of the West End premiere of The Drifters Girlfurther casting has been named to star alongside Beverley KnightThe Drifters Girl is at the Garrick Theatre from 4 November, andThe Drifters Girl tickets are on sale now.

The Drifters Girl company includes the Olivier Award-winning actor Matt Henry, who is best known for playing Lola in Kinky Boots. Adam Bernard will also star — previously winning an Olivier Award for playing Jimmy Early in Dreamgirls. 

The Drifters are completed by Dreamgirls' Tosh Wanogho-Maud and Come From Away's Tarinn Callender. Beverley Knight will play Faye Treadwell in The Drifters Girl. Knight has previously been in West End musicals including The Bodyguard, Memphis the Musical and Cats. Further casting is to be announced.

First formed as a vocal backing group in the 1950s, The Drifters were catapulted to global success thanks to their manager, Faye Treadwell. Their best-selling hits include "There Goes My Baby" and "Save The Last Dance For Me." The Drifters Girl will dramatise their rise to superstardom, as well as legal battles and an everchanging lineup.

The Drifters Girl features an original book by Ed Curtis, with direction by Jonathan Church and associate direction by Tyrone Huntley. Scenic design is by Anthony Ward, with costume design by Fay Fullerton, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Tom Marshall and choreography by Karen Bruce. The musical's world premiere will take place in Newcastle, ahead of a West End transfer to the Garrick Theatre. 

The Drifters Girl is at the Garrick Theatre from 4 November.
