Matthew Bourne’s ‘The Car Man’ sets full cast

The production is part of the Royal Albert Hall's 150th anniversary celebrations.

The Car Man is based on George Bizet’s opera, Carmen. Rather than a story set in a 19th-century Spanish cigarette factory, The Car Man takes place in a 1960s American diner, but uses Bizet’s operatic score and Rodion Shchedrin's "Carmen Suite".

The Car Man company includes over 65 dancers and musicians. The title role of Luca (The Car Man) will be shared by Will Bozier and Richard Winsor. Bozier is currently a swing in Cinderella at the Gillian Lynne Theatre. Meanwhile Winsor recently played Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever at the Peacock Theatre.

The role of Lana will be shared between Ashley Shaw and Zizi Strallen. Strallen is currently playing the title role in Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre. Paris Fitzpatrick and Dominic North share the role of Angelo, and Kayla Collymore and Kate Lyons will share the role of Rita. Alan Vincent will play Dino.

Jonathon Luke Baker, Benjamin Barlow Bazeley, Alistair Beattie, Stephanie Billers, Isaac Peter Bowry, Cordelia Braithwaite, Ben Brown, Reece Causton, Jade Copas, Harrison Dowzell, Cameron Flynn, Rose Goddard, Glenn Graham, Bryony Harrison, Shoko Ito, Monique Jonas, Nicole Kabera, Kurumi Kamayachi, Katrina Lyndon, Rory Macleod, Andrew Monaghan, Stephen Murray, Harry Ondrak-Wright, Edwin Ray, Danny Reubens, Sam Salter, Gabrielle de Souza, Catrin Thomas, Christopher Thomas and Bryony Wood complete The Car Man cast.

The Car Man leading cast is split into two, the Chevrolet cast and the Cadillac cast. The Chevrolet cast includes Will Bozier, Zizi Strallen, Paris Fitzpatrick, Kayla Collymore and Alan Vincent. The Cadillac cast includes Richard Winsor, Ashley Shaw, Dominic North, Kate Lyons and Alan Vincent.

Matthew Bourne directs and choreographs The Car Man. Terry Davies provides original music, using Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen). The show’s designs are by Lez Brotherston, lighting design is by Chris Davey and sound design is by Paul Groothius.
