New Diorama Theatre Season to June 2011

The New Diorama Theatre, a fringe venue near Warren Street, central London, has announced its season March - June 2011.

1 to 12 March 2011
Baby Boomers / The Confessti Maker(Double Bill), by John Wright / by Frank Wurzinger.Produced by Scratch built Productions. Cast Frank Wurzinger (The Confetti Maker), Becky Kitter, Nick Ash (Baby Boomers). Physical theatre. Baby Boomers substitutes language for balloons, blending mask, puppetry and extreme balloon modelling to tell this poignant story of love, loss and regret. The Confetti Maker is a highly visual piece. It combines slapstick, puppetry, absurd storytelling, improvisation and, of course, lots of small bits of paper, which are expertly woven into a humorous, yet poignant show.

16 to 19 March 2011
The Edge, devised theatre piece from Transport Theatre and the Central School of Speech and Drama. Directed by Douglas Rintoul. Taking narratives of channel swimmers, migrants clinging on to the fringes, stories of the flood and the formation of the English Channel 200,000 years ago, The Edge is a new project in development that explores the place where the sea meets the land and where we position ourselves within this epic relationship.

22 to 26 March 2011
The Tempest, by Movement Theatre Company. Drawing on the narrative styles of the Commedia Dell'Arte and combining masks, live music, dance and puppetry.

29 March to 2 April 2011
Horse, with Flick Ferdinando. Produced by Company FZ. Dark physical comedy. Prepare to reassess how far one woman's passion for all things equine can go, in a show where the horse obsessed become the horse possessed.

Wife To James Whelan, by Teresa Deevy. Produced by Charm Offensive. Directed by Gavin McAlinden. Head-hunted for a plum job in Dublin, James Whelan turned his back on his hometown of Kilbegan and on Nan, the love of his life. Seven years later, flush with status and success, James returns to Kilbegan determined to share his good fortune and find a bride.

Birthday of the Infanta, adapted from the bittersweet story by Oscar Wilde.Produced by Trestle Unmasked and the Unicorn Theatre. Spanish princess, on her twelfth birthday party. This is the only day of the year she is allowed to play with other children, but mixing with those not of her own rank comes at a price.

73a, by Yat Yau. Produced by True Heart Theatre. Directed by Wing-Hong Li. A Mother and Son take a 45 minute bus journey to visit the dying father. (The same play is performed in two parts: first in English, and then in Cantonese)
