Set in 1991 as the Soviet Union falls, Patriots follows billionaire businessman Boris Berezovsky as he finds himself ousted from the president's inner circle to public enemy number one. Patriots marks Peter Morgan’s third West End play, following The Audience and Frost/Nixon.

The BAFTA-winning actor Tom Hollander reprises the role of Boris Berezovsky in Patriots. Will Keen will reprise the role of Vladimir Putin, and Luke Thallon reprises the role of Roman Abramovich. Further Patriots casting will be revealed at a later date.

In a four-star review of Patriots at the Almeida Theatre, our critic said: “A barnstorming performance from Tom Hollander makes this a gripping human duel, as well as an ideological one. His Berezovsky is gleeful, wired and relentless, barely phased by an assassination attempt, and drunk on his own strategic brilliance. Morgan has inarguably produced a work that speaks to the moment – not just in terms of the war in Ukraine, but our own political squabbles.”

Rupert Goold directs Patriots. The show features set design by Miriam Buether, co-costume design by Buether and Deborah Andrews, lighting design by Jack Knowles, and sound design by Adam Cork.
