Rodgers and Hammerstein's ‘Oklahoma!’ sets 2023 West End dates and theatre
The Rodgers and Hammerstein musica will open at the Wyndham’s Theatre.
Oh what a beautiful mornin’, especially with OKLAHOMA! in the West End. OKLAHOMA! will begin previews at the Wyndham’s Theatre on 16 February, ahead of an opening night on 28 February and performances to 2 Sept. 2023. Book OKLAHOMA! tickets on London Theatre.
Set at the turn of Oklahoma becoming an American state, Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical follows cowboy Curly and outsider Jud as they aim to woo farmgirl Laurey. Daniel Fish directs the two-time Tony Award-winning Oklahoma! revival.
Oklahoma! played at the Young Vic earlier this year, starring Arthur Darvill, Marisha Wallace, and two Broadway cast members — Patrick Vaill as Jud and James Davis as Will Parker.
In a five star review of Oklahoma! at the Young Vic, our critic said: "It seems like a cliché to say that this show couldn’t be more timely, but unfortunately, its relevance just keeps getting, well, more relevant. As a story about a divided territory with classes at odds, struggling to find common ground to become a unified state, the parallels with our divided world are painfully clear."
Oklahoma! West End casting will be revealed at a later date. The show features choreography by John Heginbotham, scenic design by Lael Jellinek and Grace Laubacher, costume design by Terese Wadden, lighting design by Scott Zielinski, and sound design by Drew Levy.
