Come into his swamp! Shrek the Musical will return to London this summer, playing the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith for six weeks only. Performances will run from 19 July to 31 August 2024.

Shrek the Musical is currently playing a U.K. and Ireland tour through May, and the principal cast from the tour will reprise their roles for the London engagement. They include Antony Lawrence as Shrek, Joanne Clifton as Princess Fiona, James Gillan as Lord Farquaad, Brandon Lee Sears as Donkey, and Cherece Richards as Dragon.

The creative team includes director and choreographer Nick Winston, co-director Sam Holmes (who played Lord Farquaad in the previous U.K. tour), set and costume designer Philip Witcomb. Further creative team includes lighting designer Ben Cracknel, sound designer Ben Harrison, and projection designer Nina Dunn.

Based on the hit animated film, Shrek the Musical follows the title ogre as he teams up with an eclectic cast of fairytale characters, including a talking Donkey, to rescue a princess from a dragon and defeat the evil Lord Farquaad.

The musical premiered on Broadway in 2008, earning eight Tony Award nominations and winning for Best Costume Design. The 2012 London premiere received four Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Musical, and won Best Supporting Actor for Nigel Harman.
