‘Spring Awakening’ announces full cast at Almeida Theatre

Laurie Kynaston and Amara Okereke will lead the cast.

The full cast for the first London revival of Spring Awakening, opening later this year, has been named. Spring Awakening is at the Almeida Theatre from 30 November - 22 January. 

Rupert Goold will direct Spring Awakening, a coming-of-age musical that sees a group of teenagers discover their sexualities. Spring Awakening features a book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, with songs including "Mama Who Bore Me" and "The Song of Purple Summer."

As previously announced, Laurie Kynaston will play Melchior and Amara Okereke will play Wendla. The cast is completed by Nathan Armarkwei-Laryea, Asha Banks, Taylor Bradshaw, Catherine Cusack, Carly-Sophia Davies, Kit Esuruoso, Mark Lockyer, Bella Maclean, Emily Ooi, Joe Pitts, Maia Tamrakar, Stuart Thompson and Zheng Xi Yong.

The Spring Awakening creative team includes choreography by Lynne Page, scenic design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Nicky Gillibrand, lighting design by Jack Knowles and sound design by Tony Gayle.

After a Broadway premiere in 2006, Spring Awakening opened at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2009, immediately transferring to the Novello Theatre and winning Best New Musical at the Olivier Awards.

Spring Awakening is at the Almeida Theatre from 30 November - 22 January.
