Following the temporary closure of West End theatres, currently until 31st May, the upcoming production of Sunday in the Park With George at the Savoy Theatre has been postponed.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical was set to star the Academy Award-nominated Jake Gyllenhaal as George and Annaleigh Ashford as Dot, both reprising their performances after an acclaimed Broadway engagement.

Performances of Sunday in the Park With George are postponed to next year, with details on rescheduled performance dates to be confirmed.

Speaking about the postponement, Jake Gyllenhaal said: "We are, of course, disappointed to postpone our upcoming season, but know that safety is a top priority and science must lead the way. London's West End is incredibly special to me, and it will be an absolute honour to return to the stage so we can eventually share Sunday In The Park With George with audiences in 2021."

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical follows Georges Seurat, a nineteenth-century French artist who is completing a painting at the expense of relationships with friends and his lover, Dot.

Sunday in the Park With George will open at the Savoy Theatre in 2021.
