About Legally Blonde

Omigod you guys! Legally Blonde is back in London. Join fashionista lawyer Elle Woods as she teaches audiences a lesson to remember — being true to yourself never goes out of style. Get ready to perfect your bend and snap at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre this summer. Legally Blonde tickets are available on London Theatre now.

Just like the Legally Blonde film, the Legally Blonde musical follows UCLA fashion merchandising major, Elle Woods. She’s a headstrong, popular woman, whose collegiate career is what dreams are made of. When her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, splits up with Elle to head east to Harvard Law School, she takes matters into her own hands. Leaving her Delta Nu sisters to enroll at Harvard Law too, Elle discovers there’s more to herself than hair dye, a good wardrobe, and friends. What, like being at Harvard Law is hard?

Legally Blonde is based on the 2001 film of the same name, starring Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods. The new Legally Blonde London production will be directed by Lucy Moss, who has previously made history as the youngest female Broadway director for Six. She's already proved herself on directing girl power musicals, so we’re excited to see what Moss has up her sleeve.

Even though the Legally Blonde story stays faithful to the film, there's an original score, with music and lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe. When Legally Blonde premiered on Broadway in 2007, the musical gained a cult following thanks to songs like "What You Want," "Positive," and "Whipped Into Shape." The musical didn't win any Tony Awards though, and closed after 18 months on Broadway. When Legally Blonde opened in London, the musical enjoyed greater success, running for three years and winning three Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.

Legally Blonde is the first production as part of the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre 2022 season. The season is rounded off by 101 Dalmatians and Antigone.
