Michael Grandage has today announced that he will direct a revival of John Logan's play Red - the first UK revival since Grandage directed the premiere in 2009.

Red is about an American abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko and this promising young assistant, Ken. Rothko embarks on his toughest challenge to date: to paint a number of murals for the lavish Four Seasons restaurant.

Alfred Molina will reprise his role as Rothko form the original London production, and will be joined by Alfred Enoch, who will play Ken.

Red will run at the Wyndham's Theatre from 4th May to 28th July 2018, and tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 28th November.

Alfred Molina went on to appear in the Broadway transfer of Red in 2010, and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play. The actor is best known for his roles in the films Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Da Vinci Code and Chocolat. On stage, he has appeared in a 1980 revival of Oklahoma!, the original Broadway production of Art, and a revival of Fiddler on the Roof.

Alfred Enoch is best known for playing Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter film series, and the NBC television series How to Get Away With Murder. On stage, Enoch has appeared in Coriolanus at the Donmar Warehouse, Antigone at the National Theatre and Happy New at the Old Red Lion.

Red will feature set and costume design by Christopher Oram, lighting by Neil Austin and sound deisgn by Adam Cork.

Michael Grandage Company has also announced a revival of The Lieutenant of Inishmore, starring Poldark actor Aidan Turner at the Noel Coward Theatre next year.

Red will run at Wyndham's Theatre from 4th May to 28th July 2018.

Red Tickets are available now.
