Following last week's stream of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday concert, the latest show to be made available online as part of The Shows Must Go On series has been confirmed.

From Friday 8th May, audiences will be able to watch By Jeeves, the musical comedy based on Bertie Wooster and his valet Jeeves, characters made famous in P.G. Woodhouse's novels and short stories.

Created by Alan Ayckbourn and Lloyd Webber, the musical follows Wooster as he constantly finds himself in sticky situations. It's up to Jeeves to assist Wooster time and time again, saving the day. The original cast starred David Hemmings as Wooster and Michael Aldridge as Jeeves.

By Jeeves received its West End premiere at Her Majesty's Theatre on 22nd April 1975, yet failed to impress theatre critics and only ran for one month. After a musical reworking, the musical reopened in Scarborough in 1996 before a subsequent West End transfer to the Duke of York's Theatre and then the Shaftesbury, where it played to February 1997.

In a 1996 review of By Jeeves on LondonTheatre.co.uk, Darren Dalglish commented: "As the show goes on you soon warm to the characters and the music... it is so nice to see something very different from the norm you usually get on the West End theatres... the props are very inventive and comical, making this evening as a whole a very nice and pleasant evening indeed, once you have gotten over just how loony it all really is!"

This week's stream marks the latest musical as part of the online series, following previous musicals including Love Never Dies, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and a concert film of The Phantom of the Opera.

The stream is available to watch below from 7pm on 8th May, and will be available for a further 48 hours.
